I am a child therapist recently retired from CAMHS ( Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) after 27 years of service. I offer therapy from a Psychoanalytic perspective for children and their families to help with emotional difficulties. I previously worked as a social worker in South Tyneside for 6 years and currently work under the guidance of Social Work England.
During my working life I worked extensively with relationships through a lot of different routes such as helping children understand their lives and the context in which they live.
Following my therapy training I supervised Professionals in the community such as Health Visitors who worked with mothers and infants which led to my interest in attachment and I learnt how important it is to help parents to understand their own feelings as well as the feelings of their children.
Finding help at an early stage can begin the process of making things feel better. An initial free appointment can help to identify the difficulties and the help that is needed.
A sensitive, specialist approach with children and young people can help them understand and over come many of their difficulties.
